Tantus Bound contents

Blending the lines between fantasy and reality, is the first product released by Vibeology.  This dildo was designed by SheVibe, and created by Tantus,  two bad-ass companies coming together to bring you something totally unique; Bound.  Bound is a realistic looking dildo with a twist, quite literally!  If texture is something you love, this is the product for you.  The details are truly impressive and include twisted rope, raised veins, and obvious wrinkles.  It’s a versatile product in a size that should suit most, and will certainly break up the (perhaps) normality of your toy collection.

Bound from Tantus is a silicone dildo that’s far from ordinary, and can be used in a variety of ways.  The shaft doesn’t have an obvious curve, but the varying bulges work well to stimulate your internal pleasure zones.  Even without the curve, the base of the head connects with the G-spot area or prostate since it bulges slightly, though your individual experience might be different.

Since the base of the toy is flared, it can be used for strap-on play, and is anal safe.  So no matter what type of relationship you’re in or what kind of stimulation you prefer (vaginal/anal), this dildo is compatible.  It’s important to note that though the size is average, the texture makes it feel a little more extreme than a smooth toy would.  If you’re not very experienced with anal play, it would be best to start with something smaller and smoother before taking on this piece.

Tantus Bound rope and vein textureBound is made from Tantus’ own 100% ultra premium silicone.  This material is completely body safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free.  It’s one of the very best choices because it’s so safe to use and easy to care for.  To clean, you can use soap and warm water or your favorite sex toy cleaner (you’ll need a soft bristled tooth brush to get into all the creases – kind of a pain to clean), but you can also sterilize the toy (if you’re switching orifices or sharing with someone else).  There are three options you can choose from; a 10% bleach solutions, boiling for a few minutes, or cleaning it in your dishwasher.  Being silicone it’s best to stick with a water-based lubricant since some silicone lubes could cause the surface to degrade.

The silicone surface of this toy is matte and even with all the texture doesn’t drag across your skin like shiny toys do.  It does pick up some lint, but it’s easy to wash or wipe off without much fuss.  The details on the shaft is what really make this toy shine, both in appearance and in use.  There isn’t just a single area of focused texture on the dildo.  Apart from the top of the head and the base, every inch of this toy is covered with enough texture to grab your attention and keep it.  If that’s something you enjoy, it’s fantastic, but it might feel a little too extreme if you prefer smoother toys.

For being silicone, the material is quite firm.  There’s some give to the surface, but it’s not soft and plushy.  Similarly, it does flex when you bend it, but it takes a little effort.  Since it’s not soft, the texture becomes that much more obvious, so keep that in mind if firm texture isn’t something that appeals to you.

Tantus Bound Flexibility

Bound is available in three colors (two of which are fleshy tones); Cream, Cocoa, and Black.  The cream is very light, almost too light to be a realistic color, but still might bother those that prefer vibrant options that don’t resemble an actual penis.

It’s easy to see that this dildo was intended to look like a realistic cock tightly tied up with rope.  The popping veins, compressed areas, and bulges all add nice touches that really help give the toy life.  The lack of color difference between the different areas does bring you back to reality, though it has most of the important features you’d expect from a realistic looking toy.  The tip looks like it has a urethral opening, the head is shaped well, and it would be difficult to mistake this for anything other than a dildo.  I can easily see how this would appeal to someone who enjoys CBT or other elements of BDSM, but it’s far from limited to that audience.  If you’re looking for something unique, covered in texture, and average in size, this is the dildo to get.

Tantus Bound design - all angles

The full length of Bound is a reasonable 6 7/8″ of which about 6 3/4″ can be inserted.  The girth varies slightly along the shaft because of the design, but is on average about 4 3/4″ in circumference.  This might sound small (to some, especially those that prefer larger toys) but the texture makes it feel much larger than a smooth toy of the same size.  It’s not meant to provide a stretched sensation, but should be stimulating enough to make up for the size.

Tantus Bound special packagingBeing affiliated with Tantus has a lot of awesome perks, and in this case, it included receiving special packaging for my Bound.  The cardboard box I received looks like an old trunk that’s well traveled.  I love how the creativity covers not only the dildo, but the packaging as well.  SheVibe has some really amazing artists and incredible ideas, so it comes as no surprise.  When you purchase the dildo, you’ll receive it in the new Tantus packaging, not the box I received.

The first time I saw an image of Bound was on twitter.  My jaw nearly dropped and I immediately contacted Tantus about reviewing one.  This was such an interesting and unique piece, I knew I had to check it out.  I love Tantus, enjoy textured toys, and I’m always up for trying something new, so I pounced.

When it arrived I was initially surprised by the size of it.  I’m a fan of big toys, so I typically review items that are on the larger side.  Seeing this in my hand nearly made me laugh.  It seems so small compared to many of my other dildos, that I honestly wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it or not.

When it came time to use the toy, I decided I didn’t need to warm up (especially since it’s a little smaller than my husband).  I applied lube and immediately felt confused.  As I pushed the toy further into my vagina, I felt discomfort.  This is a very uncommon feeling for me, so it took me by surprise.  I tried to slowly thrust the toy in hopes my vagina would acclimate, but no matter what I did my body protested.  I enjoy texture, I typically use larger toys, what was the problem?  I thought maybe I was having an off day, but after trying it on a few other occasions, I realized it wasn’t me.  Bound taught me something new about myself, this extreme amount of texture will just not work with my body.

I desperately wanted to love this toy, but because of my own anatomy, I can’t.  This is just my personal experience with the toy, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out.  It’s a really interesting product that I know would be amazing for the right person – sadly, that’s not me.  I encourage you to consider your own preferences.  If you love texture, enjoy products that are more realistic looking, and want something that’s average in size; this is an awesome choice.  It’s a body safe and affordable option to consider.

  1. This thing looks so cool! I don’t know if I could deal with the texture, though. Which toys with texture do you enjoy? I’d like to be able to work myself up to this.

  2. I suspect Bound’s matte silicone will disagree with a lot of people, even those that love texture. It’s a really artful toy, but the combination of firmness, texture, and rough surface makes me really hesitant to try this one.

  3. Normally I loathe realistic-looking dildos, but for some reason I’m really drawn to this one. The only thing that makes me a little wary of wanting to try it is the extreme amounts of texture on it.

  4. Wow what a great collaboration to make this amazing product!! The idea and aesthetics are exceptional but my lady isn’t sure if this is something she wants inside her. However, the design is so different and unique that she agrees it’d be worth a try someday.

  5. That is neat, I got the regular packaging from them. I still have yet to try mines but sometime soon I will. By the way I love the new design on your site. I have missed so much since I have been busy.

  6. Haha! That looks so awesome 😀 I hope they have more collabs planned.
Too bad it didn’t work too well with you, though.

  7. The look of this dildo is enough to make me want to try it out! Especially in black. I don’t think the texture would be a problem for me, but the matte texture might be.

  8. I gotta agree with Katie up there- I’m normally not a huge fan of realistic dildos but this one really speaks my language.
The more reviews I read the more I think that the texture may actually prove too much for me… But I desperately want to try it! And if nothing else works, I’ll just set it up on my bookshelf as a conversation piece. It is, after all, fantastic.
I, too, hope to see more from Tantus and Shevibe.
