It always pleases me when I see companies take an existing product and improve it.  It makes me feel like the company is truly listening to feedback and has a real desire to create a product that everyone can enjoy.  When I heard Fun Toys was creating a upgraded G-Vibe, I was beyond interested.  The promise of more power, firmer silicone, and the ability to use it in the tub or shower was all I needed to hear!  I already enjoyed their original G-Vibe, and figured I would love this even more.  Oddly enough, though they included a third motor in this limited edition design, it doesn’t feel much more powerful than the original.  The firm silicone is a plus because you’re able to provide more pressure, and the waterproof design is fantastic.  The improvements are good and if you’re trying to decide which one to go after, I would choose the Noir.  However, if you already have the original G-Vibe, I don’t think this one is improved upon enough to own both.

The G-Vibe Noir from Fun Toys is a limited edition dual stimulating vibrator.  Unlike typical dual stimulating vibrators which are primarily limited to G-spot and clitoral stimulation, this one was designed to work in many different ways.  From typical to creative, the variety in use is both appreciated and surprising.

The design of this vibe allows it to be used for solo play and/or with a partner, no matter what gender you are and what type of relationship you’re in.  Included with your vibe is a booklet that show you eight different examples of how it can be used.  Some are realistic, while others might not work for everyone.  On top of these examples, you can get creative and put your imagination to good use.  The base of the vibrator isn’t flared, but the design would probably prevent it from slipping all the way inside of you.  If you’re very concerned, you can always insert one arm and not both, which would make it totally safe.  As with any product, make sure you sterilize if you’re using it anally and vaginally.

Unlike the original G-Vibe, the Noir is totally waterproof.  Thanks to the redesigned charging port, you can take it with you into the tub or shower without worrying about water leaking inside of your toy.  This is a fantastic improvement and one of the reasons I would recommend the Noir to the original.

The G-Vibe Noir is made from silicone and ABS plastic which are both body safe materials that are latex free, non-porous, and phthalate free.  These are great materials for sex toys because of how easy it is to care for them.  With regular use, you can clean with soap and water, your favorite sex toy cleaner, or you can sterilize with a 10% bleach solution.  Being silicone, this vibrator is compatible only with water-based lubricants since other types could cause the surface to degrade.

The surface of the silicone is extremely smooth and silky feeling.  It glides easily across the skin and doesn’t require much lubricant.  Though it doesn’t drag and it’s not tacky feeling, it does pick up lint (which is more obvious thanks to the dark color), so it’s important to wipe/rinse it prior to use.

This vibe doesn’t have obvious texture to it, so it’s great for those that prefer smooth toys.  Where the silicone and plastic ring connects can be felt, the buttons are raised and have texture, and along both sides is a small seam that can hardly be felt with your hands.  Everything else is buttery smooth silicone.

The majority of the toy is quite firm since it’s mostly a silicone skin over the internal parts, but the two arms and half the shaft have some light give to it.  Though the material isn’t squishy, the arms are flexible.  They’re firm enough to provide decent pressure during use, but bend enough to work with your body.  The original G-Vibe is more flexible than this one, but I think the firmer silicone is much better.

The G-Vibe Noir is naturally black which is a huge improvement for those that don’t care for girly colors (like that of the original).  It has a matte surface with a shiny plastic ring around the base and inside the handle.  It’s very elegant looking, but not discreet.  Though it’s not realistic looking, it’s still quite obvious that this is a vibrator.

The design of the G-Vibe Noir is exactly that of the original.  It has an oval handle at the base where the controls are located (on the top) and a straight shaft that splits half way up.  It’s a wonderful design because it allows you to use it in so many different ways.  The shaft itself isn’t totally round, but has a flat look to it.  So while it might appear quite thick from the side, the front will show you that the girth isn’t nearly as wide as you would think.

At first the size and shape might feel a little intimidating to some, but the actual size is very reasonable depending on how you’re using it.  If you’re a beginner, you might want to only insert one arm rather than both.  If you’re a size queen, you’ll feel fuller when both arms are inserted at the same time.  There’s a little something for everyone here, it all depends on use.  The full length of the vibrator is 9 1/2″.  When you insert both arms at the same time, you can use about 6″ of that length and it will have a girth of 4 1/4″ in circumference.  The individual arms can be inserted about 3″ and are each 2 3/4″ around.  When laying flat, the arms are just under 3″ apart.

Untitled-9The G-vibe Noir is rechargeable using the included USB charger and arrives with a partial charge.  Prior to your first use, you’ll want to make sure the battery is completely juiced up.  On the bottom of the handle is the small charging port.  There are no caps to open, you simply push the tip in.  While it’s charging, the lights behind the buttons will flash, showing you it’s connected properly.  Once the charge is complete, you disconnect the cord and you’re ready to use.

Untitled-4The buttons are all the same as the original G-vibe, and it functions the same way as well.  What’s different is that there’s a third motor included in the bottom of the shaft.  This extra motor is supposed to provide more vibrations where they matter most.  The other two motors are located in each arm and help provide vibrations to any and all areas you’re using it on.

The three buttons are located on the front of the handle and control the intensity level and pattern.  To turn the toy on, you simply press the plus button and it will turn the toy on to the lowest intensity level.  There are a total of ten intensity levels and each Untitled-7press of the plus button will increase the power.  The middle button controls the six patterns.  The intensity of the patterns can also be changed by increasing or decreasing the vibrations.  The minus button decreases the intensity and turns the toy off.  Every time you press a button, the lights behind them glow, but only when you’re holding the button down.  As soon as you let up, the lights turn off.

The six patterns are:

The vibrations naturally travel well throughout the toy, especially with the inclusion of the third motor.  Unfortunately, nothing was changed about the type of vibrations it has.  While there’s a fair amount of power, it’s quite buzzy.  Power queens would find this to only be suitable as a teasing toy; it would work best for someone who doesn’t need deep, rumbly vibrations.  The website also says that it boasts more power than the original, but even with the third motor, I didn’t notice a huge difference.

The sound level is reasonable.  No one would be able to hear you through a closed door, but someone would if they were in the same room with you.  Naturally, the higher the intensity the louder the vibrations, so that’s something to keep in mind if you need to be extra cautious concerning sound.

Untitled-1The G-Vibe Noir arrives in a rectangular black box that features an image of the product on the back, and the company and product name on the front along with a Untitled-12floral art piece.  It’s very elegant looking and was made to last a long time, but it’s not discreet since the back has an image of the toy, and some of the text on the package gives away what it contains.

Everything about it apart from color is exactly the same as the original.  The front of the box is one long cover that goes from the top to the bottom that magnetically closes.  You have to lift from the bottom and raise the front in order to access the contents.  The vibe itself is nestled in a piece of foam that fits the shape perfectly.  Everything else that comes with the toy is behind this foam piece.  There’s a ribbon at the top that helps you remove it and underneath you’ll find the booklet, charger, storage pouch, and a boudoir postcard by Mirosedina.

The included booklet is very attractive and features images rather than text.  This is nice and gives it an artistic feel, but I would like to have seen some actual information included as well.

Untitled-10When I heard Fun Toys was coming out with their second product, I was thrilled!  I had no idea what it could be and was anxious to see what else they were working on.  When I heard it was an updated version of their G-Vibe, I was both pleased and disappointed.  I really liked the G-Vibe and knew there was room for improvement, but I was hoping for something really different from the company.

When I read about the new features, I was so excited!  It sounded like they fixed up all the little flaws the original has.  Only there’s one big problem; the G-Vibe Noir is limited edition and isn’t replacing the first G-Vibe.  This really confused me.  Here you have an upgraded product that has so many features that are more appealing than the first, but instead of replacing it you’re making limited quantities of the improved version?  That just doesn’t make sense to me.

Untitled-11In use, I can definitely say the Noir is an upgrade.  I like the fact that you can apply more pressure because it doesn’t flex as much, and I really love the fact it’s waterproof.  I’m a power queen and when I heard there was a third motor, I was beyond excited.  Now that I’ve used it, it’s hard to even tell much of a difference.  Yes, it’s a little more powerful, but not enough to say it will now satisfy a power queen.

I think if they had improved the motors and added a third one, I would absolutely love this product.  I’m a big fan of how versatile it is, but the vibrations are too buzzy for me to get off while using.  It’s something I’ll only use for teasing, and I would never spend that much money on a warm up toy.  I’d love to see a third version with the same updates…only a change of motor.  I think then we’d really have something great to talk about!

The G-Vibe Noir is limited edition, so if it interests you, get yours while you can.  It’s currently available for purchase on Amazon.com and for a discounted price!

  1. They are getting there, who knows they may have another one in the works. Glad you at least like some of it. I enjoyed using this one then the first one as well.

  2. Thanks for comparing it to the standard G-Vibe; the additional firmness, power, and new color all contribute to me wanting this even more than before!

  3. Thank you for commenting on the “Limited Edition” thing. That confuses me as well. Why not just replace the original with the one you improved?
Also, I’m disappointed that they added another motor and the power is still the same. How does that work? Still, it’s an interesting shape.

  4. WHY IS IT BUZZY! =( And why is it limited? Maybe they want to test out if this actually is an improvement? And if not, they will created a even better one? *wink wink* That would actually be very awesome!

  5. See I thought the vibration intensity of the original was REALLY super weak. Really surface-buzzy, too. I rated it a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being most powerful.

I agree it makes no sense to “upgrade” temporarily.
