-Overview-

For many, when it comes to purchasing a sex toy, variety is important.  Having different patterns, intensity levels, textures, uses, etc. can really make a toy that much more appealing.  Unlike many external vibrators, the variety of this toy doesn’t lie within the vibrations, but with the different types of stimulation it provides.  Each side of the vibe feels different (textured, broad, pinpoint, firm, and flexible) depending on how you hold it, which makes it a great choice for someone with changing needs.  It really stands out from similar products for this reason, while still having the same great qualities many desire.  It’s rechargeable, made from safe materials, waterproof, and easy to use.  The vibrations are decent, but a higher intensity level and deeper vibrations would have made the product much better.  If you require a lot of power or enjoy many different patterns, this one might seem a little lacking.  However, it’s a great product if steady, average vibrations are all you need.

-Intro/Use-

The Laid C.1 vibrator is a compact toy designed for external stimulation.  The shape makes it very versatile, even allowing the user to penetrate themselves (using the same hand) while the vibe rests against the clitoris.  No matter what type of stimulation you’re in the mood for, it’s covered; even if your preferences change on a regular basis.

Even better than solo play is using this vibe with a partner.  It’s a wonderful toy to enhance foreplay by running it along the nipples, inner thighs, etc., but it can also be used on the male anatomy as well.  It can amp up a blow job by using it against his perineum, or even on the lower part of the shaft.  It’s not designed to be used as a cock ring, but some men might even enjoy inserting their penis inside the ring (it’s not very stretchy and won’t work for everyone, use caution).

Since this vibe is waterproof, you can safely take it into the tub, shower, or hot tub without worrying about water leaking inside the toy and damaging it.  It would be a great compact toy for your overnight adventures, but the power button doesn’t have a locking function.  If you plan to travel, it might be best to make sure the battery is drained (and you don’t forget the charger!) to prevent it from accidentally turning on.

Below are some of the basic ways the toy can be held during use (image provided by Laid), but your own creativity is encouraged.

-Material/Texture-

Laid C1 textureThe Laid C.1 vibrator is made from ABS plastic that’s surrounded by silicone.  These materials are body safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free; making them completely safe to use.  Cleaning the toy is quite simple, though you do need to pay closer attention to the textured area of the vibe (a soft bristled toothbrush works well).  You can use soap and water, your favorite toy cleaner, or you can sterilize the toy by using a 10% bleach solution.  Because of the internal parts, you can’t boil or clean in the dishwasher like you can products that are made entirely from silicone.  For lubricant, it’s best to use a water-based type since others could cause the surface to degrade.

The silicone is matte and glides easily across the skin.  It doesn’t drag, have major lint collecting problems, and doesn’t require much lube.  There are a few seams that run along the toy, but the only obvious area of texture is the top of the vibe.  This flat area is covered with rows Laid C1 flexibilityof tiny nubs (apart from a ‘C’ and ‘1’ that are left without texture) that don’t extend far from the surface, and aren’t firm.  Since they’re soft, it comfortably stimulates without feeling like it’s scratching your sensitive skin.  If you don’t care for texture, this side won’t work for you, but it’s likely another part of the toy will.

The thickest area of the toy (where the texture is) is where the motor is located – clearly making it very firm.  The silicone is only a thin layer over this part, so it’s not squishy and doesn’t bend.  The opposite side of the vibe doesn’t have the firm internal parts, so it flexes under pressure.  It’s both a good and bad thing depending on how you like to hold it, and what kind of stimulation you’re looking for.

-Design/Size-

The Laid c.1 vibrator is available in two color options, Black Currant, and Magenta.  The Magenta is a very vibrant pink which might be unattractive to some, so it’s nice to see a more neutral color option available.

Laid C1 designThe design of this vibe is where it really shines and what makes it stand out from the rest.  Each side of the toy offers something different, making it a really versatile toy.  The top is firm, broad, and features the only obviously textured area.  From there, both sides of the vibe have a raise seam as it narrows to a soft point at the opposite side.  This area is flexible, but will provide more of a pin-point type of stimulation.  The center is open and has an oval shape to it that’s smaller than an egg, but easily fits two or three fingers through it.  It doesn’t immediately look like a vibrator (at least not what you would typically see) but it would be hard to pass it off as anything else.  My husband thought it was a cock ring when he first saw it, so it’s probably best to keep it out of sight if you require privacy.

The size is nice and compact, which means it’s easy to tuck away, but also makes it a decent travel companion (see use section for suggestions).  It’s small enough that a new partner shouldn’t feel intimidated by it, and it’s very easy to use.  The full length of the toy from tip to tip is 3 1/2″.  It’s approximately 2 3/8″ tall (at the tallest point) and is about 1″ at the widest point.

-Functions/Controls-

Laid C1 chargingThe Laid C.1 vibrator is rechargeable and comes with a USB cord.  Prior to your first use, you’ll need to plug it in to fully charge the battery.  When properly connected, the power button will flash, showing you that it’s charging.  Once the charge is complete, the light will glow steady and the vibe is ready to use.  How long it takes to charge will depend on how low the battery is, and the light will flash five times every two seconds to warn you that it’s dying.  When the battery is completely drained, it will take around two hours to charge the toy.

Laid C1 power buttonThe power button is located opposite the charging port and is very easy to find since it sticks out from the surface.  To turn the toy on, you press and hold the button for a few seconds until the vibrations start.  The first setting is a steady low pattern, suitable for more sensitive users, to tease with, or to warm yourself up.  It’s weaker than what the average user would need in order to climax.  A second press of the button will bring you to the second setting, which is a high steady vibration.  This is a nice step up from the first pattern, and is reasonable for average users.  A third press of the button will bring you to the final setting, a pulsing pattern (that’s as strong as the high steady setting).  If you keep pressing the button, you’ll continuously cycle through the settings, you have to press and hold the button for a few seconds in order to turn the toy off.

With a total of three settings, there isn’t really a lot of variety in function.  It’s enough for some, but if you enjoy playing around with patterns or building in vibration intensity, this probably won’t be right for you.  The vibrations themselves are okay.  They’re a little on the buzzy size, but not bad enough that it’s numbing.  The power also could be stronger, but again, should be enough for the average user.  The way you use the vibe will also determine how much power you experience.  Since the motor is in the larger part of the toy, that’s where it’s strongest.  You can feel it in the opposite side, but it’s not nearly as strong.  The sound level is very reasonable and shouldn’t draw any attention to what you’re doing as long as you’re behind closed doors.

-Packaging-

The Laid C.1 vibrator arrives in a cute little cardboard box.  The box contains information about the product on both the front and back and includes an image of the toy;  it’s very tasteful, but not discreet.  The outside of the package is a thick sleeve, so you need to push on one side of the inner box in order to remove it and access the product.  When the sleeve has been removed, you’re immediately met with the user manual which provides all the necessary information about the product in several languages.  The vibe is just below that, tucked inside a piece of firm foam that also contains the charger.  A storage pouch isn’t included, but the compact packaging doesn’t take up much more space than the vibe itself.  Since the package is so durable, it’s a suitable storage option and should hold up for a long time.

-Experience-

When I first saw the Laid C.1 vibrator I knew I had to try it out.  I’ve used a variety of clitoral toys and I had never seen anything quite like it.  After being asked by a few people if I had reviewed one, I knew it was meant to be!

What impressed me most about this vibe is how versatile it is as far as stimulation types.  This would be a fantastic product for someone to purchase if they’re unsure whether they respond best to broad, pin-point, firm, soft, or textured stimulation.  I know what I enjoy, but I still wanted to see if this interesting product would work for me.

When I turned the toy on, I was a little disappointed that the vibrations weren’t deeper.  I typically need something powerful to get me off, so I didn’t hold onto much hope that this vibe would work well for me.  The lack of intensities and patterns was also disappointing to me.  If you created a vibrator that provided a variety of different surfaces to try, wouldn’t you also want to pair that with a variety of vibration types?

When it came time to test the toy out, it took me a little while to figure out how to make it work for me.  I love pin-point and pressure, but the pointiest area of the toy is flexible, so that didn’t work well for me.  The broad end has some pointier areas, but I didn’t love the texture against my clit (it was comfortable, but not right for me).  I’d try to apply pressure, only to press down on the flexible area, I’d try putting my finger through the hole, but things didn’t line up the way I wanted it to.  After playing around for what seemed like forever, I finally found something that suited me.

The type of vibration alone weren’t enough for me, but once I found the right area and applied the right amount of pressure I was able to achieve my orgasm.  It wasn’t amazing or intense, but I was able to have one.

I think the Laid C.1 vibrator is best for someone that enjoys variety (in stimulation), for someone who’s unsure of what they might enjoy, or for someone that’s interested in purchasing a vibe for solo and partnered play.  Because there are so many different surface areas, the vibe is bound to work for you in one way or another (if average vibrations are suitable for you).

  1. The design really makes me wonder: do you think this could possibly work as a cockring?

    • I wondered that myself before testing it out. In the Use section of my review I wrote:

“It’s not designed to be used as a cock ring, but some men might even enjoy inserting their penis inside the ring (it’s not very stretchy and won’t work for everyone, use caution).”

I hope that answers your question enough (we wouldn’t have been able to use it that way).

      • Yeah, wasn’t sure if you meant just like… Temporary insertion of the penis, or if extended wear (as a cockring) was imaginable. Maybe it’d work for people with smaller anatomies / who need something really tight for some reason?

        • It could work that way for the right person, but I would be very cautious, especially if they’re average to above average in girth. It’s not stretchy or flexible enough to work for most and I would be concerned that it would be too tight and would get stuck or cause damage. There are many other options available that are designed to work that way, and I would recommend selecting a different product if you’re looking for a cock ring.

  2. I’ve never seen this before. Looks and sounds promising.

  3. Wow, I thought these were cock rings! What a clever idea! Using the circle as a handle might be very helpful to people with illnesses or disabilities that affect their hands. :)

  4. Laid makes such interesting products. This one totally looked like a cock ring, but a loop handle is actually kind of a genius idea.

  5. On first glance I was happy to read about this cock ring but my excitement was short-lived haha. Upon fully reading your review, I personally would only try this out with my lady when teasing other parts of her body since the variety of texture stimulation would be great for that. Heck, maybe it would even feel good when placed on different parts of my male anatomy!

    • The first time I saw it, I thought it could double as a cock ring, but I wouldn’t chance using it on my husband that way. It could definitely be used on the male anatomy in other ways though, definitely!

  6. It looks like such a fantastic toy too, sorry to hear it was not strong enough.
