 -Use-

Leap from Blush Novelties is an adorable external vibrator that’s non-intimidating and beginner friendly.  Resembling a happy frog, this vibe is a great option for someone looking for their first toy or to introduce to a new partner.  Ergonomically shaped and easy to use, Leap makes solo pleasure effortless.  The two ‘eyes’ of the frog can be placed on either side of the clit or nipples to provide broader stimulation, or they can be used individually for a more pin-point sensation.  There are multiple ways this vibrator can be used, on both the male and female body, but it’s not designed to be inserted.  Shallow vaginal play is possible, but less than ideal, and anal insertion is highly discouraged.  Without a flared base there’s nothing to prevent the toy from slipping inside your body, so it’s best to keep it external when it comes to playing with your back door.

Modestly sized, this toy is travel friendly and discreet.  It could easily fit inside a medium sized purse without taking up too much room, and doesn’t immediately look like an adult product.  Leap can go wherever you do: in the bedroom, living room, car; even in the tub or shower.  In or out of water, this toy is fun and safe to use.

-Material/Texture-

Untitled-10This vibrator is made out of ABS plastic and silicone.  Both materials are super safe; non-porous, hypoallergenic, and contains no phthalates or latex.  The matte green area of the toy is silicone and is the area that connects with your body during use.  The shiny silver is the plastic and covers the area you would hold during use.

Both materials are almost entirely smooth, the only real texture to the toy is on the details of the face and arms and they can’t be felt during use.  They are so faint, I had to make them black and grey so that you could see it better.  The eyes, mouth, and arms are what’s lightly felt.  There’s no give to the toy, it’s totally firm since most of the body is simply plastic covered with a thin layer of the silicone.  You can sort of squeeze the eyes, but it’s very difficult to since they’re so firm.

The silicone is pretty velvety feeling, but does create a small amount of drag.  Lint isn’t a huge issue, but you’ll want to rinse off/wipe off the toy before use since it does collect a little bit.  The small amount of drag it does have can be eliminated by using some water-based lubricant, though only a little is necessary to get it to glide more smoothly.

-Design/Size-

Designed to look friendly and fun, this vibrator is vibrant and attractive; appealing to younger toy users and those who are young at heart.  Apart from the vibrations, it reminds me more of a children’s toy than something to bring you to orgasm, which may bother some users.  Nothing about it looks sexual, realistic, or inappropriate, but the fact that it resembles an animal might bother some.

Untitled-4

Because the design is so cute it’s very non-threatening and should appeal to most toy users, especially given the fact that it’s fairly compact, but that’s not the only good thing about it.  It’s very comfortable and easy to hold, and the design of the eyes is great for stimulating two sensitive areas that are close to each other (especially either side of the clit or nipples).

The full length of the toy is 5 1/2″, but you could insert it up to about 2 1/2″.  The eyes are 1 1/4″ wide and have a space between them that’s approximately 1/4″ wide.  The head is 1 1/2″ in diameter, and the base at the widest point is 2″.  It’s a very reasonable size, though large for an external vibrator.

-Functions/Controls-

Leap is a rechargeable toy that comes with a USB charger with a wall adaptor it can plug into.  You have the option of plugging the USB into the computer or into an outlet thanks to the extra piece it comes with.  This is super handy since not everyone has access to a computer at all times and is great for when you’re traveling.  The base of the toy contains the charging port and is protected with a small silicone plug.  It’s important to keep this closed when you’re not charging it, especially when you’re cleaning it or using around water.

Untitled-9

When the toy first arrives, there’s a partial charge, but it’s important to allow the toy to charge fully before your first use.  The first charge took about 30 minutes, but when the toy is dead it will take about an hour and a half to fully juice up again.  There’s a small light on the piece that plugs into the wall that glows red when the toy is plugged in and charging.  When the toy is fully charged or isn’t plugged in, the light glows green.  The buttons themselves will flash while it’s charging, but glow steady once it’s finished.

Untitled-8

Untitled-6There are two buttons on the toy, the bottom turns the toy on and off, and the top cycles through the ten vibration functions.  When you first press the power button, nothing will happen. You have to press the power button then press the pattern button to start the vibrations.  The buttons illuminate as soon as the power button is pressed, making them easy to see in a dark room.  They are very conveniently located and make a little click sound each time you press one of them.  They’re easily pressed, but aren’t easy to accidentally bump during use.  Each time you turn the toy on, it starts on the first setting, it doesn’t hold your place.

There are ten different vibration patterns, so there should be a little something for everyone:

  1. Steady low
  2. Steady medium
  3. Steady high
  4. Regular Pulse
  5. Burst
  6. Long burst
  7. Two long pulses, four quick
  8. Fast pulse
  9. Slow burst
  10. Slow roller coaster

These are based on how I was able to describe them, they aren’t listed in the booklet or packaging.

The vibrations are felt mostly in the end of the toy, but do travel into the base as well.  It’s not enough that it should bother you (and won’t numb your hand), but they can be felt.  The intensity level varies based on the setting you’re on, but even the highest setting is still not extremely powerful.  If the feeling was rumbly instead of buzzy, it would be better, but it should still be suitable for the average user who’s more sensitive to vibrations.

The box states that when fully charged, the toy will last for two hours of play.  I’ve used mine a few times (probably averaging about 30-45 minutes of play) and the vibrations haven’t gotten weaker yet.  When you use the higher settings more, expect the power to drain a little more quickly, on the lower settings you’ll be more likely to get the most playtime out of a single charge.

The sound level is fairly modest, being quiet enough that you wouldn’t be able to hear it through a closed door, but someone in the same room as you would be able to.  The higher settings obviously produce more noise, but the lower ones would be more suitable if you’re sharing a room with someone else.

-Care-

Before cleaning, make sure the plug on the bottom of the toy is securely in place since water leaking inside of the toy could ruin it.  After checking that, you can then wash it with antibacterial soap and warm water, or your favorite sex toy cleaner without worry.  You might want to invest in a soft bristled toothbrush specifically for cleaning toys, if you haven’t already.  Because of the detail in the eyes and mouth, it’s important to make sure these areas are nice and clean after use.  They only take an extra second since the impressions aren’t deep or overly detailed.  If you’re sharing with someone else, you can wipe the surface down with a 10% bleach solution to disinfect it, but you can’t boil it or place in your dishwasher because of the internal working parts.

Silicone toys are compatible with water-based lubricants and using another type could potentially damage the surface of your toy.  Since this is primarily an external toy, you may find you only need a small amount, or none at all.

Storing the toy is really easy since a lovely pouch is included along with your toy.  It’s a deep grey color, is very soft, and has adorable little bow details on the drawstrings.  It’s more than large enough to house your toy and though it’s not padded, works well to protect the surface of your toy from damage.

-Packaging-

A lot of attention was paid to the way this toy was packaged.  It’s vibrant, colorful, and fun, and though it’s not discreet, it’s very tasteful.  The front features a full color image of the toy it contains and each side shows an image of a happy female face with the words ‘revive’.  The back is all green and creatively displays all the important highlights of the toy.  With the front of the package facing you, the right side is magnetically connected and lifts up; revealing the toy behind plastic and showing a much larger image of the same female from the side of the box.

Untitled-2

The top of the plastic area can be opened, and that’s where Leap is removed from.  It’s cradled in a plastic piece that fits the toy perfectly, preventing it from moving around.  Underneath the plastic trey is a small box that contains the charger, pouch, and product booklet.  The packaging is very attractive and well made, but since it contains a great pouch, it’s not necessary to hold onto it unless you need to store your Leap for a long period of time and don’t want anything to happen to it.

Untitled-1

Untitled-7The booklet inside gives you the basic rundown of the toy.  It tells you about care and cleaning, about charging it, what the buttons are for, and tells you about their 30 day warranty on the product.  Should there be an issue, they’ll repair or replace the product if they feel it was a mechanical issue and not misuse.  A little more information would have been nice, primarily about the different patterns, but it covers the basics.

-Experience-

It’s always new and interesting trying out a product you know so little about, especially when you’re used to reading a lot of reviews before deciding on one.  Leap kind of fell into my lap and was offered to me, even before a product page was added to their website.  The look of it was adorable, it was rechargeable, and the overall design really appealed to me.

After taking my photos and charging it, I set about testing it out.  The light and buzzy vibrations were a little disappointing to me because I’m a power queen, but for teasing it was lovely.  One side of my clit is very picky about vibrations and I wasn’t sure how it would work with this toy.  I placed the frog eyes on either side of my clit and was actually quite surprised.  While it wasn’t satisfying my usual pleasure spot, the vibrations were light enough to feel really good on the picky side.

I tried the toy in a variety of ways, but my favorite was for nipple stimulation.  The power doesn’t really need to be super strong for me in that area, and the light tease felt amazing, especially since the design makes it possible to stimulate both sides of my nipple at the same time.

For clitoral stimulation I would have liked more power, but for teasing it was perfect!  It’s very easy to use, fits nicely in your hand, and has a lot of variety to it.  As long as you can get over the fact that it might not make you climax if you need intense vibrations, it’s a wonderful toy to add to your collection!

  1. It does look like a childrens’s toy. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad: you could hide it in plain sight, but if your kid saw it they’d want to play with it. *smiles*
Looking forward to seeing this fellow in s future TWMT post!
