-About the So Dildo-

The So Dildo from Dorcel is a double-ended silicone dildo.  Both ends offer something unique, making it like having two different toys in one.  Products like this are fantastic if you’re not sure what you enjoy or if you have changing preferences.  However, its use becomes limited as a result.  It can be used solo or with a partner, but can’t be used in a harness.  Similarly, it doesn’t have a defined flared base, so caution is required for anal play.

The So Dildo is made entirely from silicone which is a body-safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free material.  It’s one of the best materials available and with care, is made to last a lifetime.  This easy to clean material can be washed with soap and water or toy cleaner, but can also be sterilized.  Using a 10% bleach solution, boiling for a few minutes, or using the top rack of your dishwasher is all it takes.

So Dildo - TextureThe surface of the silicone is matte and requires a water-based lubricant in order to glide smoothly across the skin (other types could cause the surface to degrade).  Because there isn’t a surface texture, a little goes a long way.  The majority of the dildo is smooth, but it’s far from boring in use.  The bulbous end creates a popping sensation during use, but doesn’t have any texture.  The smaller end, however, offers a couple lightly raised bulges.  These provide a brief ribbed feeling while the toy is thrust.  There is a light seam that runs along the length of the dildo, but it isn’t obvious during use.

Though the silicone is quite firm, the design allows for a lot of flexibility.  This will either be a positive or a negative element depending on your preferences.  It’s a little more challenging to experience G-spot pressure, but using the larger end makes up for it by the full feeling it provides.

So Dildo - Flexibility

The size is definitely not beginner friendly.  The large end is 6″ in circumference, which would be extremely intimidating for someone new to penetration.  The shape is also a little challenging to work with because the base of the bulge narrows quite abruptly.  It’s not difficult to accidentally cause discomfort because it can get hung up on your pubic bone.  The opposite side is approximately 4 1/4″ around, and though considerably smaller, still isn’t quite right for someone who isn’t used to penetration.  The curved end followed by the two bulges may feel like too much, though might be the perfect design for a more experienced toy user.  The overall length is 9″, which makes it a great size for thrusting, but the flexible silicone can sometimes pose a problem.

So Dildo - size comparison to hand

The So Dildo arrives in a white cardboard with the toy prominently in view.  The plastic window is shaped perfectly to show off the bright pink dildo it contains.  Surrounding the box is information about the product and company, making it obvious what’s inside the package.  It’s tasteful, but not discreet, and isn’t necessary to keep.  The So Dildo can be stored with other 100% silicone toys, or placed inside a large toy pouch for added security.  The toy does come with a booklet of information about the product, but a pouch isn’t included.

-My thoughts-

The So Dildo is something I’ve had my eye on for some time now.  When I first stumbled upon it, I couldn’t get over how deliciously bulbous the large end was, while the opposite looked curved to perfection.  The shape!  Oh, the shape and size looked absolutely perfect for me, and after years of waiting, I finally got my hands on one.

As soon as I took it out of the box, I realized just how flexible the silicone is.  The overall look was just as fantastic as I had imagined, but I was suddenly quite unsure as to whether or not the toy would work well for me.  I still haven’t quite figured out my preferences; sometimes I enjoy something soft and squishy, while other times I love something firm being rubbed against my G-spot.  Either way, I was hoping this would fall into the ‘I love soft and squishy’ category, though I didn’t have much hope.

So Dildo

I began with the smaller side, decided it was better to work up to the bulbous end (despite the fact it was calling my name).  The curved head and small bulges felt shocking good, and I enjoyed the flexibility the toy offered.  It did make it a little more challenging to insert, but it wasn’t as difficult to thrust with as I’d imagined.  The bulges are awesome!  They’re somehow very gentle and stimulating at the same time, which was even more than I had hoped for.  If the smaller end felt this great, I could only imagine how much I would enjoy the larger side.

Nope.  Just nope.

I was relaxed and ready.  I’d already had an orgasm and warmed up with the smaller end.  I’m no stranger to larger toys, so I figured this would slide in no problem.  Well, the flexibility of the shaft worked against itself with this side.  It was much more difficult to insert, and I ended up having to hold the base of the bulb rather than the middle of the shaft just to get it inside of me.  Once I was (again) relaxed, I started to slowly thrust the dildo.  I adjusted myself, changed my position, added more lube; but no matter what I did, I couldn’t find a way to use this side comfortably.  The bulbous head kept catching on my pubic bone, which resulted in a pinched feeling, rather than a pleasurable one.

I’ve tried it several times since, and though I’ve managed to find myself feeling neutral (rather than totally disgusted) with the large end, it’s still not something I’ll reach for.  Shocking even myself, I love the smaller end.  The design works really well with my body, it’s comfortable to use, and isn’t a struggle to insert it.

Vagina.  You’ve surprised me again.

Overall I think the So Dildo is good.  I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either.  I think if they made the silicone a little more rigid and the bulbous end a little smaller, it would be amazing.  But they didn’t.  As it sits, I would say it’s a decent product.  It’s reasonably priced for a 100% silicone toy, offers two different ends, and is well made.  It wasn’t perfect for me, but I did find ways to enjoy it.

  1. This looks like a fun toy to try, it looks like I would have the same issues with the bigger side that you did. I am glad you enjoyed using it.
