Xoxo Sweet and Sexy Romance is an erotic anthology full of nearly 40 stories of lust, love, and everything in between.  Some of the stories are about lovers, while others are about meeting new love.  The focus of this book is on sexy interactions between two people; having stories that are centered around many different relationship types.

The stories contained cover a variety of situations from tied up lovers, to public sex acts, to sweet gestures.  It’s not strongly written for those who want to read an erotic love story or those who find BDSM erotica more their taste.  It’s almost like a chocolate box sampler of stories, this book allows you to test out what type of stories you respond to the most, which will help you with future book decisions.

Each story is about four pages long and most are primarily centered around a specific moment, though others give more of a background to the story.  Old lovers coming back together, one-time lovers reuniting, and others that have been waiting for the perfect moment to make their move.  Though all stories won’t be for everyone, there should be at least a couple stories that interest just about anyone.

-My Thoughts-

After reading several anthologies from Cleis Press, I can safely say that this one isn’t my favorite.  I had trouble holding interest in several of the stories, and the ones that did interest me, left me wanting more.  There were many surprises in the book, which I enjoyed, but I also found a few glaring errors that should have been picked up on.  One of the final stories in the book, and one I actually found comical, says, “his turquoise eyes practically glowed.”.  But on the next page says, “His earnest chocolate-brown eyes.”.  Had the story been about a morphing man it would have made sense, but it was clearly an error that was overlooked.

If you’re thinking about purchasing some erotica and you aren’t sure what appeals to you most, this might be worth checking out, but I wasn’t highly impressed by it.  There are many other anthologies put out by Cleis Press that I’ve enjoyed more (see my review on The Big Book of Orgasms), but this might be worth it for the right person.

  1. Sorry to hear you did not really enjoy reading this book.

  2. From turqouise to brown? Oh my. Mistakes like that really irk me. Plus grab-bag anthologies usually disappoint me. I’ve read enough erotica to know what I do and do not like, so I don’t need the sample plate stories *grins* As you’ve pointed out, Cleis Press has plenty of good stuff!
