Holy Water Lube from Divine Interventions

Pros:
- Comical
- Glycerin, Paraben, and DEA free
- Condom friendly
- Safe to ingest
- Great gag gift
Cons:
- Strong rose scent
- Gets tacky as it dries
- Needs to be washed off
- Expensive
Overall:

2star

Untitled-1

-Overview-

Holy Water lube has a lot of good things going for it.  It’s safe to use with condoms, has a lot of natural ingredients, and those that try avoiding glycerin and parabens will be pleased.  That being said, the hang ups are just too obvious to get past.  The overwhelming scent of roses while masturbating isn’t exactly something that excites me, and the need to wash it away can be a pain.  If it weren’t for the scent, I think I could actually enjoy this lube, but it’s too distracting for me to enjoy.  I love Divine Interventions as a whole, but this lube just wasn’t my thing.

-Intro/Use-

Divine Interventions is a super fun and quirky company that specializes in religious sex toys.  Though many of the products available are made to resemble religious figures, there are a few considered ‘non-denominational‘ (regular dildos that don’t represent anything religion related), and they also carry this lube.  There should be a little something for everyone, especially when you consider how unique their products are.

Holy Water Lube is a water-based lubricant that’s safe to use for masturbation, with any of your sex toys, and during intercourse (and is safe to use with a condom).  It’s a thinner lube, so it will work best for vaginal use since it won’t last as long during male jack off sessions or anal sex/anal toy use.  It’s safe to use orally, but it’s not flavored and the taste may bother some.

Though it’s made with many natural ingredients, it’s still important to check the list prior to purchasing or use.  If you happen to have a reaction to it, immediately clean it off your skin and discontinue use.

Ingredients:

Untitled-3

-Texture/Thickness-

Untitled-4Holy Water Lube is a super silky, wet feeling lubricant.  It has a natural feeling to it, but doesn’t absorb into the skin like most other water-based lubes I’ve tried.  Most of it will absorb, but there’s a residue that remains and will need to be cleaned off.  It’s not necessary to shower after, but you’ll need to use a damp cloth or wipe to completely remove it.

During use, it remains nice and slick through your session, though requires moisture in order to remain smooth.  For longer sessions or play that exposes the lube more to air, you’ll need to reapply often.  It’s easy to squeeze from the bottle and is a wonderful thickness.  It’s thin enough that it spreads easily, but thick enough that you have time to rub it in before it runs.  The image to the right shows what the lube looks like on flat glass, and how far it runs after 10 seconds.

As it’s drying, it starts to feel tacky.  It’s not sticky, but it’s annoying either way.  Once it hits this stage, you can reactivate it by adding moisture, or applying more lubricant.  If you’re finished with the session, you’ll need to wash it off.

-Taste/Smell-

The Holy Water lube has a strong rose scent to it.  I’ve never been a fan of rose scented products, so naturally I found this very unappealing.  It’s obvious from the moment you open the bottle/dispense the lube, and it remains on your skin even after you’ve wiped it away.  If you don’t mind the scent this shouldn’t be an issue, but I couldn’t even focus on pleasure because it bothers me so much.

The taste is fairly common for a lubricant that’s not flavored.  It has a bubble taste to it, but does have a hint of roses in it as well.  It’s safe have oral sex after using this lube, but it’s not the best tasting product.

-Packaging-

Untitled-2Holy Water Lube arrives in a clear plastic bottle with a black cap with a pop top.  The label is what really makes this lube what it is.  The front has an image of Divine Interventions’ Jackhammer Jesus, and just below it says, ‘Sanctus Orgasmicus’.  It would make a fabulous gag gift for someone, or a heart stopper for the serious Catholic in the family.

Prior to use, you must remove the seal by unscrewing the cap and peeling it off.  The bottle won’t leak as long as you properly screw it back on and the pop top is closed.

The label on the back contains all the information you need to know about the lube, and highlights certain points about it.  You have the ingredients list, where it’s made, and the company’s website as well.  The 4 oz bottle is sort of a oval shape rather than being totally round, and isn’t discreet.  If you need to, you could peel off the label to make it more discreet.

-Purchasing-

If you’re interested in purchasing your own bottle of Holy Water Lube, you can find it exclusively at Divine Interventions for $9.99 per bottle.  While you’re there, make sure to check out their other fantastic products!

This past month has been beyond busy in the POP household.  The holidays have really wiped me out and have taken away 99% of my free time.  Thanksgiving was full of good food and good company, my middle daughter turned 5 years old, and Christmas has been full of crafting with the kids and enjoying each other’s company.  My oldest daughter has been on school vacation and we’ve been spending lots of time together, making gifts for family and friends, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Here’s a little taste of what we’ve made over the past month:

craftsI also made three blankets, have a hat to knit, and a scarf currently on the needles.  This is all on top of the typical craziness of buying, wrapping, decorating, baking, etc. that the holidays bring.  I’ve been staying up into the early hours of the morning, and waking up only a few hours later with the kids.  I’m exhausted, but it’s all been worth it!

I have so many awesome products to review, and I want to first apologize to my affiliates and sponsors for taking longer than normal to write my reviews.  I’ll be working hard over the new month to catch up on everything and truly appreciate your patience!

To my readers, I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting as much.  As you can tell I’ve been super busy with the family and have been doing my best just to get through the holidays without passing out from exhaustion.  I’ll get back into the swing of things, I’m not going anywhere!

My giveaway recently ended, and @Nikismithwin was the winner!  I’ll have your package sent out in a few days!  I have other giveaways already planned, so come back soon to see what else you could win.

I’m going to work hard at reworking my review style, giving you the most important information without boring you in the process.  I’ll still be just as thorough, but will be changing things to appeal to a wider audience.  I want everyone to enjoy and benefit from what my blog has to offer.

If you have any suggestions for ways I can improve my blog and/or my reviews, I would love to hear them!  I want this to be a place you each enjoy visiting and reading!

With that, I hope you all were able to enjoy the holidays with your family and friends and made beautiful memories together!

Entice Olivia from Cal Exotics

- High pitched hum on high settings
- Flexible (could be pro or con)
Overall:

Untitled-7

-Intro/Use-

Olivia is a vibrator from the Entice line by Cal Exotics.  This vibe has a firm tip for targeted pleasure, but a flexible shaft to prevent discomfort when thrust.

Beginner friendly and easy to use, Olivia is a pretty simple vibrator that would be a great upgrade from a traditional style vibe.  When inserted, the slightly curved shaft and rounded head help connect with the G-spot, providing decent pressure without causing discomfort.  Since the shaft is so flexible, it can only provide lighter clitoral pressure unless you hold the tip itself.

Without a flared base, this vibrator isn’t anal safe.  There’s nothing to prevent it from accidentally slipping inside of you, so it’s best to keep it external if you’re not going to use it vaginally.  It’s not as versatile as a result, but you could certainly use it on your partner without using it anally.

When the battery cap is properly closed, it’s totally safe to use Olivia both in and out of the tub or shower without worrying about anything leaking inside the battery compartment.  It’s also helpful since it’s so much easier to clean as a result.

-Material/Texture-

Olivia is made from silicone and ABS plastic.  Both materials are body safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free.  It can easily be cleaned with antibacterial soap for regular use, but can be sterilized by cleaning with a 10% bleach solution if you’re sharing with someone else.  Silicone is only compatible with water-based lubricants since other types could cause damage to the surface.  If you must use another type, make sure to spot test prior to slathering it on to make sure it doesn’t cause a negative reaction.

The surface of the silicone is very silky smooth.  It doesn’t drag across the skin, feels buttery smooth in your hands, and only picks up tiny particles that are easily wiped away.  If you feel like you need to use lubricant, a little goes a long way thanks to the already smooth surface.

The only texture on the toy is present on the end, the buttons, and the seam that runs the full length of both front and back of the vibe.  The seam isn’t obvious during use, but can be felt with your hands.  The end isn’t heavily textured, so it shouldn’t be an issue for those who aren’t crazy about texture, and the majority of the toy doesn’t have much so it would work best for those who enjoy smooth toys.

Untitled-4

The end and base of the vibe are very firm, but the thinnest area of the shaft feels quite hollow and is easily manipulated.  It bends easily during use which is great because it’s less likely to ram against your cervix, but it might not provide firm enough G-spot pressure.

-Design/Size-

The overall look of Olivia is quite simple but attractive.  The end looks like the bud of a flower just starting to open up.  It’s a feminine design, that’s for sure, especially when you consider the color options available are pink, raspberry, and purple.  Though it’s cute to look at, it’s not at all discreet.  I don’t think you could pass this off as anything other than a vibrator.

Untitled-6

The base of the toy has a gold colored battery cap, and just above that are the power buttons.  This is also the thickest area of the vibe, which is great because it’s easy to hold onto during use.  The size decreases for the center of the toy and then bulges for the end.  Even with the end being thicker than the the center, it’s still a reasonable size for most users.

The total length of the vibe is 6 1/2″, with 3 1/2″ of insertable length.  It’s fairly compact in size and would be suitable to travel with.  The girth is 1 1/4″ at the tip, 7/8″ at the thinnest point (in the center), and 1 13/4″ in diameter for the base.

Untitled-3

-Functions/Controls-

Olivia is powered by 2 AAA batteries which aren’t included.  The cap easily twists off and a paper inside plainly marks how they should be inserted.  Once in place, you screw the cap back on, and you’re ready to power up the toy.  There are two buttons, one that turns the toy on and off, and one that cycles through the patterns.  The buttons are raised from the toy and can easily be felt, but don’t light up when turned on.

Untitled-2

When you press the power button, you’re immediately on the first of 8 settings.  When you want to change it, you then have to press the function button.  Each press will take you to the next setting and will continuously cycle through with every press.  When you’re ready to turn the toy off, simply press the power button.

The 8 functions are:

  1. Steady Low
  2. Steady Medium
  3. Steady High
  4. Medium Pulse
  5. Quick Pulse/Steady
  6. Slow to Fast Pulsing
  7. Various Pulsing
  8. High Pulsing

The vibrations are more focused in the end of the toy, but can be felt throughout it.  They’re quite buzzy and might cause a numbing sensation during or after use.  The highest setting is average as far as power, but the light buzzing sensation doesn’t make it feel very strong.  If you’re a power queen, this won’t work for you at all.  At best this would work as a teasing toy.

The noise level is okay, but the highest setting is considerably louder than the rest.  It’s a high pitched hum that’s rather distracting.  If you’re using it internally the sound is quite muffled, but is much louder when using on external areas of the body.  No one would be able to hear you through a closed door if you had some noise in the room, but it would be obvious if you were in the same room with someone else.

-Packaging-

Untitled-1The packaging for Olivia is pretty common for Cal Exotics products.  It’s a thin cardboard box that features an image of the product on the front, and information about it on the back and both sides.  It’s not discreet, but it’s more tasteful than most.  When you open the package, the vibrator is inside a little bag and can freely move around inside the packaging.  It doesn’t include any information inside, so what’s on the package is the only information that comes with it.  It’s not great for storage since it’s so thin and wouldn’t hold up for long.  You can break it down and dispose of it as you normally would cardboard and store the vibrator in a small toy pouch.

-Experience-

When Olivia arrived at my door and I saw it took 2 AAA batteries, I immediately sighed, knowing it would probably be weak and buzzy.  It seems that AAA’s and weak vibrations go hand in hand, but I was willing to give it a shot anyway.

I thought the design looked really nice.  It was feminine without being too girly, which I could appreciate, but there was just something about the way it felt that kind of put me off.  The hollow center is a bit odd, and sort of gives it a cheaper feeling as a result.  It doesn’t really effect use, just bothers me.

When it came time to test the toy out, I couldn’t really feel disappointed by it since it worked exactly how I thought it would.  It met my expectations for a vibrator like this that runs on small batteries.  Just because it met my expectations, doesn’t mean I liked it.  I need deep, rumbly vibrations in order to climax, and this didn’t do much more me.  I thought the shape was nice, but I couldn’t apply enough pressure with it for me to fully enjoy.

Vibrations weren’t strong enough, flexibility worked against me, it just wasn’t the right product for me.  If you’re more sensitive to vibrations and don’t require a lot of pressure, this might work well for you.  Just because it didn’t suit my needs doesn’t mean it’s a horrible product.  I think someone looking to transition from a basic, straight vibrator would find this to be a nice option, but only if lighter vibrations are enough.

Evi from Aneros

Pros:
- Made from silicone
- Easy to clean and care for
- Helps strengthen PC muscles through Kegels
Cons:
- Not simulating
- Not designed to fit all women (as stated)
- Not likely to bring you to orgasm
- May cause discomfort
Overall:

2star

Untitled-6

-Intro/Use-

Untitled-4Aneros is most well known for their prostate products, but broadened their reach by creating Evi.  Evi is a female product designed to help strengthen the PC muscles through kegel exercises while providing hands free stimulation.  The egg shaped bulb is inserted into the vagina while the longer portion remains outside of the body, hopefully connecting with your clitoris.  Rather than vibrating, this product was designed to move with your body by clenching your muscles; no batteries or thrusting required.

Strengthening your PC (Pubococcygeus) muscles can help with urinary Untitled-3incontinence, provide stronger orgasms, and can even help with childbirth and after.  There are many products available that are marketed as Kegel tools, but Evi was designed to help you experience pleasure through working those muscles.  It has some pretty bold claims, saying it “guarantees users a sensual experience like no other” and “both the G-Spot and clitoris are perfectly stimulated in a toe curling rhythm”.  What’s crazier is their claim that it’s “Designed to Fit ALL Women”.  How Evi works for you will depend on your anatomy.  Not everyone will have the same experience or results while using this product.

Though this product is designed to be used vaginally, word on the street is that it works even better as a butt plug.  The design of the base prevents the toy from accidentally slipping inside of you, and the bulb may even connect with the prostate (and perineum) on male bodied individuals.  Aneros products are mostly focused on anal use, so it comes as no surprise that Evi would work well anally.

Evi can be used during specific periods of time, or can be worn for a while as you go about your day.  You might find it’s not the most comfortable option to use while out and about, but your personal experience will vary.

-Material/Texture-

Untitled-8Evi is made from silicone which is a body safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free material.  It’s a really great material that’s easy to clean and care for.  You can simply wash with warm water and antibacterial soap for regular use, or disinfect if you’re switching orifices or sharing with someone else (boil for three minutes, clean with a 10% bleach solution, or place it on the top rack of your dishwasher).  Silicone is only compatible with water-based lubricant since other types Untitled-7could cause the surface to degrade.  If you must use another type, make sure you spot test a small area to make sure your toy doesn’t have a negative reaction.

The silicone Evi is made from has matte surface that’s fairly smooth.  It doesn’t pick up much lint and slides quite easily across the skin.  If you feel the need to use lubricant, a little goes a long way since it lacks texture.  There’s only a light seam that can be seen in the middle of the toy, and the company name and website on either side of the external area.  They can’t be felt during use, but are present.

There is a light squish to the surface, but it’s very firm in general.  I’m told the first version of this product didn’t have any flexibility to it at all, but the neck on the newer version can move back and forth without much force.  The firmness provides a lot of pressure, which will either be a good thing or bad thing depending on how the product works for you.

Untitled-9

-Design/Size-

Evi was designed to fit well with your body.  The bulged area slips nicely into place and the small neck and thin base should help provide comfort.  The insertable portion of the product reminds me of an egg.  It’s the right size and close enough to the same shape that it’s understandable.  The base itself is longer on one end than the other, and there’s an obvious reason for that.  When properly inserted, this base is supposed to stimulate both the G-spot and clitoris at the same time.  How effective that is will depend entirely on your anatomy.

If I had never heard of Aneros and wasn’t an adult product reviewer, I wouldn’t have guessed this was a sexual product based on the look.  I would have sooner guessed it was some weird looking ball for people to toss around outside (think Nerf products).  It’s very discreet and isn’t likely someone would assume it’s a sexual product if they happened to see it in your home; though I guess that would also depend on where they found it!

Untitled-10

The size and shape should be suitable for just about any experience level, but those who aren’t used to penetration might have some difficulty with it.  The tip is slightly more narrow and very easy to insert, so it shouldn’t be a problem for most.  It doesn’t take up much space, being only 5 1/2″ long (from tip of bulb to tip of base), so it’s also travel friendly.  The bulb itself is 2 1/2″ long and 1 1/2″ in diameter.  The neck is 1/2″ wide and the base is 3 1/4″ long.

Untitled-5

-Packaging-

Untitled-1Aneros products always arrives in the nicest looking boxes.  The outside isn’t entirely discreet since it has the name and image of the product on a partial sleeve, but that can be easily slipped off.  The white packaging then only has the company name on the top, making it very discreet unless you’re familiar with the company.  When the thin cardboard box is opened, a much thicker and nicer box is revealed.  This one closes magnetically and is very attractively designed.

Once the internal box is open, the only paperwork included with the product is what you see first.  After removing that the toy is in full view.  It’s housed in a thick plastic tray which prevents it from moving around inside the package.  It’s a great box, but much larger than necessary to store your Evi.  A smaller toy pouch would work fine, but you’ll want to find something to put it inside to prevent any kind of surface damage.  A plastic sandwich bag would even work in a pinch.

Untitled-2

-Experience-

After snagging a few prostate toys that Aneros makes, I was really curious to see their take on a female kegel device.  As soon as this one was available, it had my interest.  I’ve primarily used kegel balls when working my PC muscles (or nothing at all), but knowing that this one was supposed to also stimulate my clitoris in the process?  Umm, yes please!

Unfortunately, that ‘yes please’ quickly turned into a great big ‘thanks anyway’.

After washing and getting lubed up, I prepared myself for the amazing hands free stimulation I was about to experience.  Once in place, I was immediately met with discomfort.  I tried moving it around a little bit to see if it was the angle, but nothing I did stopped it.  I thought maybe once I started clenching my muscles and feeling the wonderful sensations I’d enjoy it more.

I was wrong.

It was easily moving with me as I clenched and released, but it didn’t do much for me.  I was more aware of what I was feeling, but when half of that is discomfort, it’s hard to feel the more positive points.  It didn’t exactly connect with my clitoris, but I could feel some external stimulation from it.  The bulb within was what caused most of the problem.  It cause too much pressure in all the wrong places.  There’s no way I could ever get off with this product, and after trying it out a few more times, there’s no way I’ll be keeping it on hand for exercise either.  This isn’t a one size fits all product, and I’m highly disappointed that Aneros is making that claim.

How well it works for you will depend on your anatomy.  It didn’t work out for me at all, but I know others have taken quite a liking to it.  For the right person, I’m sure this is a great product.  It’s high quality, make from safe materials, and easy to use.  That being said, I’m not sure how highly I can recommend it since it doesn’t fit what it claims.

If you’re interested in purchasing an Evi of your own, another product from Aneros, or another exerciser, you can do so by clicking the banner below.

Luka from Bad Dragon

Pros:
- Fantasy themed
- Unique design
- Great shape
- Made from silicone
- Can be customized
Cons:
- Doesn’t come with storage pouch
- Smallest size might be too large for some
- Base is a little heavy
Overall:

Untitled-5

-Intro/Use-

Luka the Otter is yet another fantastic fantasy dildo from Bad Dragon.  While I’m unsure how realistic it is (having never seen an actual otter penis), the wonderful design and attention to detail make it both pleasurable to use and beautiful to view.

The soft curve and bulged head are wonderful for G-spot stimulation, and the subtle texture of the shaft keeps your focus where it matters most.  The base is wonderful for a few different reasons, but does have one flaw.  Having a flat bottom and being fairly heavy, it’s really easy to place the dildo on a firm surface and ride it.  It’s truly fantastic for that use, but when you’re laying down and using the toy the hefty base makes thrusting a little tiring after a while.

Having a large base makes it safe for anal play as well since there’s no way for the toy to get sucked up inside of you.  I would imagine the curve and shape of the head would work well for P-spot stimulation, but I can’t say for sure since I don’t have one.  I can say the smoother shaft would be wonderful for backdoor play since it shouldn’t be too overwhelming as far as texture, but isn’t for anal beginners.  Even the smallest size is quite large, so keep that in mind.

You could use this dildo with a partner, but it’s not very harness friendly.  It would be challenging to find an o-ring that would be large enough, it’s very heavy, and the base is very thick.

-Material/Texture-

Luka is made from silicone which is a fantastic material for a sex toy since it’s body safe, latex free, non-porous, and phthalate free.  It can easily be washed with antibacterial soap and warm water for regular use (might need a soft bristled tooth brush for the base), and sterilized if you’re switching orifices or sharing with someone else.  You can boil for three minutes, use a 10% bleach solution, or place it on the top rack of your dishwasher.  Silicone is most compatible with water-based lubricants since other types could cause the surface to degrade.  It’s best to spot test a small area before using another type with the toy.

The surface of Luka is matte and attracts a fair amount of lint and hair.  Prior to use, you should rinse/wipe/wash the dildo to make sure it’s totally clean.  Along with attracting lint, it requires lubricant in order to slide easily across the skin.  Because there’s minimal surface texture (on the shaft), a little goes a long way and eliminates the dragging issue.

Untitled-10

The texture is subtle on the shaft, having some vertical lines and a couple bulges, but it’s the base that draws the eye.  The base has all the wavy lines that give it a fur-like appearance.  It easily stands out from the smooth shaft, yet they compliment each other so well.  If you don’t care for a lot of texture, Luka will be a great fit for you.  It’s enough to stimulate without being Untitled-7overwhelming, and has a base that’s textured enough to make it a really interesting piece.

There are five options to choose from as far as firmness levels when purchasing your Luka; Soft, Medium, Firm, Split Firm, and Split Wide.  I chose firm for my Luka, and I’m really glad I did.  Normally when you think of a firm toy, you imagine it being quite rigid.  Not this silicone!  The firm still has a lot of give and flexibility to it.  When compared to my medium firmness Bad Dragon toys, you can tell the difference, but it’s not drastic.  If you’re not sure which firmness level would be best for you, you can always purchase a set of sample discs to see which one feels right for you.

-Design/Size-

Luka has all the familiar looking parts without being realistic.  It has the bulged head, girthy shaft, and a set of testicles on the base.  Bad Dragon did a fantastic job of making this one truly look like it hides within the furry base when flaccid, and extends from it once erect.

Untitled-4

Though it doesn’t resemble a human penis, it’s quite obvious what it is and what it’s used for.  If someone were to see it laying around it would be hard to pass it off as anything other than a sex toy.

All the dildos available from Bad Dragon can be customized in a variety of different ways; firmness, size, color, and more.  Luka has the option of adding a cum tube (for an additional charge of $20), but doesn’t have the suction cup option that many of their other dildos have.

Untitled-8The color options available are nearly endless!  Some come with an additional charge, but are totally worth it when it comes to customizing your dildo to perfectly fit your tastes.  My Luka was done in a custom split fade which costs an additional $40, but it’s totally worth it.  I put in the colors I wanted and was amazed at how perfectly they matched it!  Just look!

Untitled-1Luka is available in four sizes, most of which are suitable only for those that have the title of ‘Size King’ or ‘Size Queen’.  Between the Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large options, I chose Medium for mine.  Each dildo I have from Bad Dragon is in that size, but differ quite a bit.  Always make sure to check the measurements on the specific dildo you’re purchasing since they vary.

Untitled-11Luka is true to size and is gloriously large for those of us who enjoy a stretched feeling from time to time.  If you’re not used to penetration or prefer smaller toys in general, the small Luka might not even work out for you.  While it’s great to work on building up to larger toys, don’t push yourself.  Dildos like this are all about pleasure, and there’s nothing good about hurting yourself by pushing your limit too far.  Always properly warm up and use plenty of lubrication.  If you experience discomfort, stop and try again another time.  Already having an orgasm often helps (both with relaxing and self lubricating), to give yourself a little bit of time if it’s too much at first.

-Packaging-

Untitled-3Luka arrives sealed in a clear plastic bag surrounded by tissue paper, inside a discreet brown box.  Nothing about the packaging gives away the fun it contains.  There’s no paperwork included (apart from your order receipt), no storage pouch; just the dildo inside the bag.  You have to cut or tear the bag in order to remove your dildo, so it’s important to find a storage pouch that will accommodate the size of your toy.  A gallon sized Ziploc bag works well, but Liberator has some great toy pouches that are large enough to fit two of my medium Bad Dragon dildos inside of it.

-Experience-

Bad Dragon has yet to let me down.  Their dildos are all beautifully made and excite the imagination.  When Luka was first added to the site I was so impressed by the detail of the base and couldn’t get over how much it reminded me of actual fur.  The smoother shaft also grabbed my attention and I knew it had to be mine.  I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t add a suction cup, but it was still worth adding to my collection.

Though I have reviewed two other Bad Dragon dildos (Crackers and Nox), this was my first time customizing the colors.  When my package arrived and I pulled the toy out, my jaw dropped.  I was stunned by how accurately they colored my toy.  I had no idea they were capable of getting it so close to my vision, and they’ve managed to blow me away (a little more) as a result.

When I want to focus on a stretching sensation, I reach for Luka.  The light texture enhances pleasure without being a distraction, and the solid base stays in place really well.  The only downfall was how heavy the toy feels after a few minutes of thrusting.  This is where a willing partner comes into play.  You can lay back and relax while they do all the work!

Out of the three dildos I’ve received from Bad Dragon, each one has been a total hit in their own way.  If Luka doesn’t seem like a good fit for you, there are many other products that are likely to catch your eye.  Make sure you visit their site and shop around, you never know what amazing things you might find!

And be sure to check out my reviews for Crackers and Nox for more in depth information on the customizing options available.

-Intro/Use-

Ida, from the Insignia line by LELO, is a couples’ product that’s designed to be worn during intercourse.  There are several other products that are designed to be worn the same way, but this one is a little different.  Rather than just vibrating, Ida vibrates and rotates.

The probe is roughly the size of a finger and is where you experience the rotation.  When inserted and turned on, it’s supposed to provide a light rubbing motion as it sweeps against the G-spot and surrounding area, while also stimulating your partner’s penis.  The external part of the toy is flat on top and has a rounded area that connects with your body.  This is where the vibrations come from.  Internal rotation, external vibration; sounds pretty awesome, right?  There’s more.  The remote that comes with it also vibrates, letting your partner know exactly which setting they’re on, and allowing them to take advantage of the vibrations on their own body as well.

The Ida can be used for hands free solo play since it doesn’t need to be held in place, and remains secure when you use it with your partner.  The included remote makes it easier to change the settings during intercourse, but is a little tricky to figure out if you’ve never used a remote with SenseMotion technology (more on that later) before.

There are many different positions you can use the Ida in; Missionary, Cowgirl, Doggy Style, etc.  You have to figure out what works best for you and your partner since some positions might not be comfortable.  It’s important to note that this product was designed to be used mostly by heterosexual couples during intercourse, but it can be used by homosexual couples as well.  It can safely be inserted anally and used for P-spot stimulation, and female partners can take advantage of the separate vibrating pieces (Ida itself and the remote).

Though the charging port is exposed, it’s totally safe to use in and out of the water thanks to the design.  The port is sealed from the internal parts, so there’s no way for water to leak inside your toy and cause damage.

-Material/Texture-

Ida is made from both ABS plastic and silicone.  It’s body safe, non-porous, latex free, and phthalate free.  They’re both really safe materials because they can be disinfected (through a 10% bleach solution) if sharing with others or switching orifices.  These materials are compatible with water-based lubricant only as other types could cause damage to the silicone surface.

The plastic makes up the top of Ida, the battery cap on the remote, and the internal parts.  They are gold colored and very shiny/reflective.  The vibe itself has ‘LELO‘ on the top, and the remote also has the company name along with the insignia symbol and the dip that helps you remove the cap.

The silicone side of the remote has some texture to the surface for the buttons, but nothing apart from that.  The vibe itself is very smooth, having only some texture around the power button.  It doesn’t come in contact with your body, so it shouldn’t be an area of concern.

With velvety smooth silicone, Ida doesn’t have an issue with drag.  You might feel the need to lubricate the rotating arm prior Untitled-7to inserting, but it doesn’t require much and some might find it unnecessary.  Though it’s silky smooth, it does still collect small particles and lint and will need to be wiped down before using.

Both the remote and vibrator are very firm since the silicone is more of a skin over the toy than anything.  It doesn’t have any give, but has some flexibility to the rotating arm.  It should fit with just about anyone’s anatomy, but whether or not it connects property with your pleasure spots is a totally different story.

-Design/Size-

Ida is available in three color options; Black, Cerise, and Deep Rose.  I’m not sure why they chose two colors that were so similar, but there is some variety, and has one option that isn’t pink.

The overall design is familiar if you’ve seen couples’ toys before, but the external portion of the product makes it quite unique.  Rather than having a similar shape to the insertable part, it’s rounded and covers a broad area rather than focusing on the clitoris.  It’s great if you prefer broad stimulation, but it doesn’t connect well if your clitoris isn’t easily exposed.

The rotating arm is quite round, and is a reasonable size.  The largest area is toward the tip, but thins out before connecting with the vibrating portion of the toy.  This is a great design because it’s less likely to cause discomfort during use.  Even if you’re partner is above average in girth, it’s less likely to feel like an extreme squeeze since the thinnest part is toward the opening of the vagina.

Untitled-8

Ida is a great size when using with a partner, but might feel a little small when used for solo play.  The girth is very reasonable and should work for any experience level, though some might feel the addition of a couples’ massager is too much when paired with a partner.  If you experience discomfort being penetrated by your partner in general, you might want to use it only for solo play.  The vibrating area is 2 1/4″ across, covering a wide area, and the rotating piece can be inserted up to 2 3/4″.  It ranges in girth from 15/16″ in diameter (the thickest point), to 9/16″ (the thinnest).  The remote is 2 1/2″ wide and approximately 3/4″ thick.

Untitled-4

-Functions/Controls-

Untitled-9Ida is rechargeable using a wall adaptor, but the remote it comes with is powered by two AAA batteries that are included.  When it first arrives, you’ll want to plug it in for approximately two hours to juice it up.  While it’s charging, a light behind the power button and to the side of it flashes, and stops once fully charged.  The massager should last approximately 2 hours, but the battery powered remote can last up to 10 hours.  When Ida needs to be charged, the light will flash rapidly while it’s on, letting you know the power is getting low.  It’s a really neat feature that could potentially eliminate the frustration of the massager dying during use.

Untitled-5The back of the remote has a small dip in it that helps you open and close the battery cap.  When it first arrives, it’s very easy to open, but you’ll need to use the little tool provided in order to properly open/close it.  Using another object (such as a coin or screwdriver) could damage the surface of the plastic, so it’s best to use what was provided.

Ida can be used on its own or with the SenseMotion remote.  When using it alone, you have to press the power button once to Untitled-12turn it on, and again to start the vibrations/rotation.  From there, you continue to press the button to cycle through the six pre-programmed patterns.  The intensity level will automatically be at its highest, but can be changed once the remote is turned on.  A little light next to the power button slowly flashes during use, but doesn’t change according to the patterns.  When you’re ready to turn it off, simply hold down the power button until the vibrations cease.

Untitled-3The SenseMotion remote isn’t new to LELO and is seen with some of their other products as well.  That being said, it’s totally new to me.  It’s a round disc that features three buttons on the front, and a round, flat battery cap on the back.  It’s easy to hold onto during use, is waterproof, and vibrates.  However, it’s a little hard to figure out when you first receive it.  To turn it on, you have to first press the plus button which creates a wireless connection to the massager (which you’ll also need to turn on).  There are three different modes you can use from here.

Mode One – Once turned on, you can control the intensity level by holding the remote flat, or tipping it sideways.  When flat, it’s at 10% intensity and grows stronger as you turn it.  Once vertical, you’ve reached 100% intensity.  You can move the remote back and forth to vary the intensity, or hold it in a way that works best for you or your partner.  When you’re in this mode you can choose to have the remote vibrate, or simply blink instead.  To turn off the vibrations in the remote, you hold down the center button for five sections.  The remote will still control Ida the same way, but your fingers won’t get tingly if you don’t need the vibrations.  If you decide you’d like them to be turned back on, you simply hold down the center button for five seconds and they’ll start back up.  When you want to turn the remote off, you press the minus button and it will turn off the remote, but the massager remains on standby.  It doesn’t vibrate (unless you press the button on the massager), but it will remain on for one hour after the remote has been turned off.

Mode Two – When you’re already in the first mode, all you have to do is press the center button to change to mode two.  This mode is all about how fast you move the remote back and forth.  The faster the remote moves, the stronger and faster the massager is.  It’s a little bit of an odd mode since you have move your hand back and forth in order to change the intensity, and I imagine it could potentially get either annoying or comical.  I guess it all depends on what works best for you.  To turn off this mode, you simply press the minus button just like when you’re in the first mode.

Mode Three – A third press of the center button will bring you to this mode (a press for each mode).  This is the most basic of all three and allows you to simply use the pre-programmed vibration patterns.  Rather than moving the remote to increase or decrease the intensity, you use the plus and minus buttons like you would on regular remotes.  Each press of the center button will take you to the next pattern and will continue to cycle through them if you keep pressing it.  Holding the minus button down will turn the toy off.

The remote itself has a travel lock that can be activated by holding down both the plus and minus buttons at the same time.  The remote will light up while you’re pressing down, and will turn off once the lock is on.  It’s important to note that this only locks the remote, and not the massager.  To unlock it, you simply press and hold the same two buttons and the light will appear once unlocked.

Both the vibration intensity and the speed of the rotation are effected the same depending on what setting you have it on.  You can’t have the rotation set to low while the vibrations are on high; they go together.  There are a variety of different patterns, but they only focus on the vibrations, the rotation stays the same no matter what setting you’re on.

The six patterns are:

  1. Steady
  2. Pulse
  3. Quick Pulse
  4. Surging
  5. Roller Coaster
  6. Crazy Mix

Though many products LELO puts out are nice and rumbly (think Ina 2 and Mona 2), Ida just doesn’t pack much of a punch.  Even on the highest setting the vibrations lean toward the buzzy side.  The rotation isn’t felt as strongly as I had hoped, so it doesn’t feel as different as the product claims to be.

The sound level is quite modest considering you have two separate vibrating parts and a rotating area, but it has a very mechanical sound to it.  It can be annoying, but shouldn’t be loud enough that it will distract you.  You would be able to hear it if you were in the same room with someone (which means wearing it out wouldn’t work well unless it was a very crowded place), but someone wouldn’t be able to hear it through a closed door.

-Packaging-

Untitled-1LELO‘s packaging is always classy and luxurious.  The outside of the package has a thin cardboard sleeve that boldly shows off the product, information about it, and the company name.  This can easily be removed and discarded if you require privacy.  Once the sleeve is removed, you’re met with a black box that simply has ‘Lelo’ on the top.  Nothing gives away what it contains unless you’re familiar with this company.  Inside the box, your Ida is housed in black foam that’s cut to perfectly cradle the massager and remote, preventing it from moving around inside the box.  There’s a small flap at one end that lifts up to reveal the charger, storage pouch, batteries, instruction booklet, battery cap tool, lubricant sample, and authenticity card.

-Experience-

After trying out other vibrators designed for couples, I was really curious about how Ida would preform.  The rotating element was what drew me in most, and after trying rabbits that had rotating shafts, I wondered what it would be like to share that sensation with my husband.

Before testing it on my own, we decided to try it out together.  I put it in place and knew before even turning it on that it wasn’t going to line up well for me.  The vibrating piece was too low for me.  Not only did it not come in contact with the area of my clit that needs stimulation, it didn’t reach at all.  I know my clit is pretty high up, but there were other issues as well.  Being a larger woman, I have a pretty plump mound which makes it difficult for certain toys to properly reach my somewhat buried clit.  The rounded, flat design will work well if your clit is exposed, but it’s a challenge if not. I thought maybe once it was turned on and we were getting hot and heavy that it would bump up higher and connect better; so much for wishful thinking.

My husband turned the toy on and we activated the remote.  I’m the reader between us, so I knew how to use it, he did not.  I tried to explain it to him, but he just didn’t understand.  This really isn’t a great toy to reach for the in the heat of the moment, not unless you both know how it works.  He was flinging his arm all over the place and I was doing everything I could not to laugh.  I had him hand me the remote, and he slipped inside of me.  The sensation did change once he penetrated me, but it wasn’t for the better.

Having chubby lady parts isn’t always a good thing.  In this case, I felt nothing but discomfort since the rotating probe had to be stretched far to work with my anatomy.  I felt like it was pinching me the whole time and it was bordering on painful.  I thought maybe it was the position we were in, so we switched it up; a few times.  No matter what position we were in, it just hurt.  Before stopping, I asked him how it felt to him and he just shrugged and said it wasn’t anything special.  He could feel vibrations, but couldn’t tell it was rotating even when he wasn’t thrusting.  After hearing it wasn’t doing anything for him, I felt relieved because I needed it out of me.  I’ve experienced discomfort from a toy before, but this was the first time I’ve experienced pain.

I set the toy aside after that night.  I knew I needed to test it on my own, but I was afraid of potentially experiencing the same discomfort.  A week went by and I decided I needed to put on my big girl panties (or take them off..) and try it again.  I prepared myself, was nice and warmed up, and inserted it.  This time I focused on adjusting it to see if I could get it to properly connect with my pleasure spots, and no matter what I tried I couldn’t get it to work for me.  The rotation could hardly be felt and the vibrations weren’t even close to my clit, so I gave up.

Ida, you have let me down.

I really wanted to say this was an amazing product that will change the way you and your partner have sex, but I can’t say that in a positive way.  Yes, it might change the way you have sex, but only because you’ll be so busy trying not to cringe that you can’t focus on pleasure.

I know your individual experience will vary from mine, and I truly hope it does, but if you have a chubby mound like I do you might just run into the same issues.  You really need an exposed clit that’s closer to your vaginal opening, a smaller mound, and some experience with the remote prior to actual use.

If you’re interested in purchasing the Ida, you can by clicking the banner below.  If you think the remote won’t get enough use, consider Tara which is the same product only without the SenseMotion remote with it.

Ida was provided to me free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review.  This is in compliance with FTC guidelines.
